“The most powerful leadership tool you have is your own personal example.”

About Me
Hello, I’m Samuel, founder of Samuel Johns Coaching.

I specialize in coaching purpose-driven executives, founders, and leaders to optimize their ability to reflect on their thoughts and beliefs, purposefully direct their lives and their work, and meaningfully connect in their professional and personal relationships.

My clients appreciate my expertise in active listening and my ability to relate and offer constructive, intelligent and calming strategies for reflection, direction, and connection in this fast-paced and ever-changing world.  I create safe spaces for meaningful dialogue that generates shifts in mindsets, leadership, and performance. I aim to use our unfolding conversations to help you reconnect with yourself, your values, your purpose, and deepen your connections with your personal and professional communities.

I am the producer of the mindfulness-focused podcast, Ten Percent Happier with ABC News Anchor and author Dan Harris. Currently, we rank among the Top 10 Health Podcasts on Apple Podcasts. I am also pursuing my professional coaching certification, Coaching for Transformation, with Leadership that Works, an accredited training program by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). I serve as a mentor on meditation retreats for teens with Inward Bound Mindfulness Education (iBme) and have completed trainings with The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond on Understanding and Undoing Racism.

My passion for coaching stems from my personal and professional experiences, which have taught me that in leadership, everyone's walking a different path. But the realization is the same: being mindful, value-centered and purposeful is key to unlocking your most effective leadership potential and maximizing your impact.

My Story

As the youngest of five brothers, I grew up with parents who fostered a nurturing environment with strong family values. They encouraged us to pursue our passions. During my Junior year in college, with a curiosity for learning and an adventurous spirit, I traveled to the U.S. for a study abroad program. I ended up never leaving.

Following college, I launched my career working in fast-paced business environments and on world-class marketing teams at Vistaprint and TripAdvisor, during a time where both companies more than doubled in size. I understand first-hand how to navigate the ebbs and flows of businesses experiencing rapid growth and transitions.

During this time, I also began to compete in Ironman triathlons. The competition’s rigorous physical and mental demands inspired me to pursue meditation more formally to improve my performance. The results were transformative. To date, I have trained and competed at the top end of the amateur triathlon circuit, completing two full Ironman and eight half Ironman triathlons. And In September 2018, I represented Australia at the 70.3 Ironman World Championships in South Africa.  I’ve also sat seven silent meditation retreats – the longest being for six weeks at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts.

Most recently, I joined the founders of the startup company, Ten Percent Happier, as the third member on their team. Here, I led and built a team of deeply experienced meditation coaches for the company. Today, I am the producer of their mindfulness-focused podcast, Ten Percent Happier with ABC News Anchor and author Dan Harris. Currently, we rank among the Top 10 Health Podcasts on Apple Podcasts.  In this role, I also have the pleasure of working with and learning from some of the leading mindfulness and meditation experts around the world.

My extensive experience at the intersection of business, mindfulness, and performance, including as a 10-time Ironman triathlete, has afforded me a wide and diverse range of tools and best practices for success. I look forward to working with you and coaching you to become an effective leader that inspires action, fuels passions and achieves your personal and professional goals.
